FCA Warns That genesislimited.org Is Not Authorised
The Financial Conduct Authority added https://genesislimited.org to its Warning List on September 28. The regulator says the firm is not authorised or registered by the FCA and may be providing or promoting financial services or products without permission.
The FCA said the firm may be targeting people in the UK and advised consumers to avoid dealing with it and to be alert to scams. Its warning identifies the website as https://genesislimited.org and lists an email contact and a Netherlands address. The regulator cautioned that unauthorised firms can use inaccurate or changing contact details, including details that make a business appear genuine.
The notice is a regulatory warning, not a finding about a particular customer transaction. It means traders should not treat a website, address or claimed UK connection as proof that a firm is FCA-authorised. The relevant test is whether the legal entity appears on the FCA’s register for the service it is offering.
Why it matters
Traders considering a broker, investment platform or trading service should confirm the exact legal entity in the account agreement through the FCA’s Firm Checker before sending funds or identification documents. The FCA says customers dealing with an unauthorised firm may not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection if something goes wrong.
What to watch next
Watch the FCA Warning List and register for updates. If a business contacts a trader unexpectedly, the FCA recommends using independently verified register contact details rather than replying through the message or website that prompted the approach.
