Interactive Brokers Adds Brazilian Futures Through B3

Updated: Fresh

Interactive Brokers said on August 5 that eligible clients outside Brazil can now trade Brazilian futures through the B3 exchange, adding listed derivatives access to the Brazilian equities already available through the broker. The company said the products sit inside the same unified platform clients use for more than 170 global markets.

The broker described B3 as one of Latin America’s most active and liquid markets and said the expansion gives international clients another way to access Brazil from a single account. Product availability varies by Interactive Brokers affiliate and country of residence, and the press release says access to Brazil’s B3 exchange through Interactive Brokers is not available to residents of Brazil.

For traders, the update is about practical market access. Brazilian futures can be used to express views on local rates, equity indexes, currencies or broader emerging-market risk, depending on the contracts and permissions available to each client. Adding futures to an existing equity route also makes Brazil exposure easier to manage for users who already keep global positions on IBKR.

Why it matters

Broker access determines which regional markets many active traders can use in practice. Adding B3 futures gives eligible international clients a more direct way to trade Brazil-linked risk without adding a separate local platform.

What to watch next

Watch contract availability, margin treatment, live-market data costs, currency funding, and whether other global brokers respond by expanding listed-derivatives access to Brazil.
