MetaTrader 5 Build 6060 Adds AI Integration and Passkey Support
MetaQuotes released MetaTrader 5 Build 6060 on 23 July, adding native support for the Model Context Protocol and a broader set of AI-assisted workflows inside the trading terminal and MetaEditor.
The official release notes say the built-in AI assistant can help users analyze symbols, review open positions, study trading history and give context on market conditions. MetaQuotes also says external MCP-compatible systems can connect to the terminal, while security settings can control whether AI-initiated trading operations are allowed, prohibited or require manual confirmation.
Build 6060 also adds passkey authentication support when enabled by the broker. The release notes describe passkeys as an additional authentication factor that can be stored on a mobile device or compatible FIDO2 hardware key. MetaQuotes also added separate account-access modes, including a trader mode that permits trading but blocks password changes, deposits and withdrawals, and a money-manager mode that permits funding and transfers while blocking trading.
For developers, the update expands the AI assistant in MetaEditor, adds code-management improvements, and includes a range of MQL5, tester and web terminal fixes.
Why it matters
MT5 remains a core workspace for retail FX, CFD and multi-asset traders. Native AI access inside the terminal is not just a research feature: it touches account data, open positions, strategy development and potentially order workflows. That makes the permission controls and broker-side rollout just as important as the AI feature list.
Passkeys also matter for broker risk teams and active traders because account takeover remains a practical threat, especially for leveraged accounts.
