Interactive Brokers Adds Crypto Tokens and Stablecoin Withdrawals
Interactive Brokers said on July 14 that it has expanded cryptocurrency access by adding nine new tokens for trading through zerohash and three new tokens through Paxos.
The broker also introduced withdrawals from IBKR accounts to external wallets through automatic conversion into stablecoins. Eligible clients can withdraw U.S. dollars as USDC, PYUSD or RLUSD, extending the stablecoin deposit functionality the broker previously added.
Interactive Brokers said the new zerohash tokens include Aave, Aptos, Canton, Lido DAO, Monad, NEAR Protocol, Plasma, Pax Gold and Uniswap. Paxos also added Aave, Uniswap and Pax Gold. The broker said eligible clients can trade crypto alongside stocks, options, futures, bonds, funds and prediction markets from the same platform.
The availability is not universal. Interactive Brokers said product access varies by affiliate and country of residence. It also said bidirectional stablecoin funding is not available to clients of Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited or Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited, and that the new crypto-assets are not available to Interactive Brokers Ireland clients.
Why it matters
For active traders, the update is a platform-access story as much as a crypto story. IBKR is adding more digital-asset coverage without separating crypto into a standalone app, and stablecoin withdrawals can make account funding and transfers less dependent on bank hours.
The restrictions matter too. Traders still need to check their legal entity, country eligibility, custody provider and transfer permissions before assuming a token or stablecoin route is available.
What to watch next
Watch whether Interactive Brokers expands stablecoin withdrawal support to more affiliates and whether additional tokens become available through both Paxos and zerohash.
