Ask Price

The ask price (also called the offer price) is the lowest price at which a seller is willing to sell a currency pair. When you decide to buy EUR/USD, the price you actually pay is the ask. It's always slightly higher than the bid price — that gap between them is the spread, which is essentially the cost of entering the trade.

In practice, most traders don't think about the ask price in isolation. Your trading platform shows both bid and ask together, and the spread is calculated automatically. But understanding what the ask represents matters when you're comparing brokers, because tighter ask-bid gaps mean lower trading costs.

During periods of high volatility — like major news releases or market opens — the ask price can jump around significantly. This is when spreads widen, and you might end up buying at a higher price than you expected. Using limit orders instead of market orders gives you more control over the actual price you pay.
